The Last Chance Jazz Band
THE MUSIC
| The Last Chance Jazz Band plays the style of music that has been sometimes labeled as "Classic" jazz, including the many variations on this wonderful American music as it developed from about 1910 through the early 1930's. |
Indeed, the band plays a wide variety of American popular music - New Orleans jazz, Tin Pan Alley ballads, Ellingtonia, South-side Chicago, Swing and even some original music. |
THE BAND

The LCJB has been around the Columbia, Maryland scene for about 20 years, held forth every Friday to a packed crowd at The Last Chance Saloon. Unfortunately, the Saloon closed on January 2, 2004, but rest assured, we'll find another venue to perform this wonderful music for our loyal fans. In the current manifestations of these bands are repertoires as varied and interesting as you'll find anywhere. You can hear (and dance to) music from Louis Armstrong, Sydney Bechet and Duke Ellington with a leavening of the wonderful "standards" we all know so well. And listen to the unique sounds of The Baltimore Jazz Factory as it swings the classics. |
